As a talented, but troubled young gymnast in the teen comedy “Stick It” (2006), actress Missy Peregrym poised herself to somersault her way from supporting roles to stardom – further solidified with roles in such high profile TV shows as "Heroes" (NBC, 2006- ) and "Reaper" (CW, 2007- ). Born June 15, 1982 in Montreal, Canada, Peregrym grew up in Surrey, British Columbia, with her minister father, mother and two sisters. As a youngster, Peregrym had little interest in movies or television. She considered herself a tomboy, playing competitive soccer, field hockey and basketball. Her original career plan to become a gym teacher or coach faded at when she turned 18, after discovering the glamorous world of modeling. A beautiful girl, she was soon featured in print advertisements for Mercedes Benz, Sprint and the Olympic games.

Soon enough, the Hollywood offers started to roll in. In 2002, Peregrym landed her first walk-on role on the hit sci-fi series, “Dark Angel” (Fox, 2000-02) starring a then-unknown Jessica Alba. She followed that same year with a guest role on “The Chris Isaac Show” (Showtime, 2001-04), playing a hot new waitress at Bimbo’s who convinces bad boy Anson (Jed Rees) to wear green contact lenses. She continued her upward climb on the small screen, finding guest spots on long forgotten shows like “Jake 2.0” (UPN, 2003-04) and “Tru Calling” (Fox, 2003-05). She landed her first regular series role on the unremarkable action drama, “Black Sash” (WB, 2002-03), playing a 17-year-old dealing with the death of her policeman dad who learns martial arts from an ex-cop from Hong Kong (Russell Wong) moonlighting as a bounty hunter.

With her career rolling along, Peregrym found herself especially busy in 2004. She appeared in several higher profile television projects including, “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda” (Sci-Fi Channel, 2000-05) and “Smallville” (WB, 2001- ). She also landed a small part in her first TV movie, “Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss” (USA, 2004), followed by her first big screen role, playing a test subject in the Halle Berry stinker, “Catwoman” (2004) – a role for which she was thankfully uncredited. A guest star no more, Peregrym landed another regular starring role on the short-lived, but critically lauded, teen TV series, “Life as We Know It” (2004-05), a coming-of-age drama set in a Seattle high school that followed the goings-on of three typically sex-obsessed teenage boys. Despite developing a cult following among younger viewers, the show only lasted one season.

Peregrym’s biggest break yet came with the gymnastics teen-flick, “Stick It” in 2006. Playing the lead role of Haley Graham, a former gymnastics prodigy who abruptly leaves the sport and starts running with the wrong crowd, Peregrym drew upon her athletic background to better essay the part. With four months of intensive training, she was able to pull off many gymnastic feats on her own, leaving the difficult work to a trained double. The film was also Peregrym’s first opportunity to act with a high-caliber A-list star like Jeff Bridges, who played the part of her tough and exacting coach.

She raised her game with a recurring role on the highly-rated superhero drama, “Heroes” (NBC, 2006- ), playing Candice Wilmer, an outcast high school student who discovers that she has the power to create illusions, like plastering ugly boils on a cheerleader’s face or tormenting a football player with Satan-like images of his father. In “Wide Awake” (Lifetime, 2006-07), she was a researcher suffering from narcolepsy, whose life falls into danger after a known cure turns deadly. Back on series television, she had a costarring role on “Reaper” (CW, 2007- ), playing the love interest to a young slacker (Bret Harrison) who learns that his parents pledged his soul to the Devil, obligating him to retrieve souls that have escaped from Hell.
